Nature Walks
Bwindi Impenetrable forest is a well endowed natural habitat that contains plenty of different animal and plant species. It is important to be accompanied by a Park guide because they are conversant with the different trails as well as the variety of flora and fauna in the park hence will be able to explain as much. At the moment there are five trails that are being used in the endeavor to penetrate the impenetrable forest, namely; Munyanga River trail, Waterfall trail, Muzabajiro loop trail, Ivi River walk and the Rushura Hill trail. Of the five trails, the Rushura Hill trail has been sighted as the most difficult.

Munyanga River Trail
This trail follows the Bizenga creek till it joins the Munyanga River. The Munyanga River trail begins at the end of the road in Buhoma at the forest edge. The trail is the best place for bird watchers and forms a semi circle returning you to the park headquarters.
The waterfall trail
A moderate climb through the forest and tree ferns brings you to a series of three waterfalls which is 2km on the left hand side of the winding forest path that crosses the Munyanga River. This trail is very important for bird watchers and many monkeys can also be seen on this popular hike. It is also important for the local people, scientists and researchers.
Muzabajiro loop trail
This trail starts near the park headquarters and crosses the Muzabajiro creek before ascending through the forest to the Rukubira hill. Slivery trunks of dead trees and vines are characteristic of this trail thus offsetting the magnificent views of the Bwindi forest, the western Rift valley and the Virunga volcanoes. The trail finally descends to Rukubira and returns to the Park office via its original route.
Ivi River Trail
This trail ascends and descends through the beautiful areas of the Bwindi forest overlooking the lush valleys and is an important foot path for local people especially those going to the market on the Southern side of the park.
Rushura Hill trail
The Rushura hill is the highest hill around Buhoma (6,288feet), and starts at the Bwindi view canteen and ascends through cultivated fields and the Bwindi forest to a view point on the Congo border. Once you reach the top, you can get magnificent views over the western Rift Valley, south to the Virunga volcanoes. Some days Lake Edward and Rwenzori mountains are visible.
Buhoma Community Village Walk
The walk starts from the Buhoma Community rest camp and visits the following attractions of the area; banana brewing, Batwa dancing and singing, handicraft sites, medicinal healers, Mukono parents’ school.
