Game Viewing
Given its huge latitudinal range and wide climatic condition, a variety of animal species can easily be seen. The park has over 80 species of mammals and on your game drive you should expect to see a number of carnivore species such as the stripped hyena, bat-eared fox and hunting dog. Antelope species you could encounter include roan antelope, bush buck, eland, and bohor reed buck and jackson hartebeest.
Carnivore species which may be seen include several small cats, spotted hyena, side-stripped jackal and black-backed jackal. Among the big mammals, expect to see the zebra, rothchild’s giraffe, the buffalo, warthog and the bush pig.
In the Narus valley, expect to see tree climbing lions that always sit on sausage trees. From the veranda of the Apoka rest camp, you may encounter buffaloes, elephants, leopards, bush pig and the kavirondo bush baby.
