ACCOMMODATION

MIHINGO LODGE

This is an up market lodge adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park. The lodge has 10 rooms which are built on wooden platforms covered by thatched roofs. Under the thatched roof are tents equipped with en suite facilities with magnificent views of the landscape. The lodge has hot and cold running water with showers. Each luxury tented room stands on its own, enabling visitors to enjoy the peaceful environment. Some rooms have a forest view, others a lake view and others have rocky outcrop views. The dining area is of a thatched structure built of rocks, wood of dead olive weathered olive trees and native grass.

Below the dining area there is a swimming pool stretching out from the rocks and seems to disappear through the landscape. The dining and the swimming pool areas give visitors stunning evening sunset views over Lake Mburo National park. Visitors can also enjoy near by wildlife and also the sounds of nature around the pool area. Electricity, hot water and water pumps are powered by solar energy and there is a natural water catchment’s system to take advantage of the rains.

The rooms are tastefully decorated with bedside table lamps connected to socket outlets. Stripped curtains cover the door ways. The lodge is family friendly as there is a provision for a baby bath and a child’s cot in the rooms.

The staff is hospitable, discreet and attentive to visitors.

KIMBLA MANTANA LAKE MBURO TENTED CAMP

Kimbla Mantana tented camp is 24km from the park entrance gate and on arrival visitors are given a welcome surprise of Ice cold drinks and colder face towels. At the centre of the park is the mantana luxury tented camp equipped with a toilet, shower, two single comfortable beds, a dressing table and a wash basin. Each tent is provided with hand and bathing towels. All the tents face the lake. With a decent pair of binoculous you can see some animals feeding in a distance. The beds are comfortable and all have mosquito netting. Hence, there are no buzzing annoyances at night. The tents are remote from each so you have the privacy to enjoy your company, the sounds and views from the bush. There are no septic tanks. The toilets therefore use sand combination. Situated on a commanding hill over looking Lake Mburo and its surroundings, the camp has nine guest tents, a restaurant and a bar, all raised on wooden platforms that provide amazing views of Lake Mburo.

The camp’s location gives it a tranquil environment given there are no mobile phone, television or radio signals. However, as you drift to sleep you can hear odd noises of birds and bats as well as hyenas howling. The early mornings are usually characterized with thick mist covering the entire neighborhood creating the most stunning view.

AGIP MOTEL

Agip motel is a favorite hotel for tourists visiting the western national parks as a stop over for meals and accommodation for those especially going to Lake Mburo National Park. It is about one hour’s drive up to Lake Mburo national park and offers you a choice of executive suites and single/double rooms with en suite bathrooms including hot showers. The hotel is ideal for travelers, honeymooners and international clients looking for spacious luxurious comfort. The hotel also has executive suites designed with cane craft furniture en suite bathrooms with instant hot water, a television and intercom telephone.

The motel has beautiful gardens suitable for camping, banquets, crusades, live bands and a conference facility capable of accommodating fifty people. The motel’s restaurant is known for its international cuisine and buffet meals are often served on the weekends. Its highly trained chefs can tailor delicious dishes to fit the visitors’ interest. The motel has a well stocked bar equipped with various alcoholic drinks with an extensive wine collection.
