Launch Trip on the Kazinga Channel
The Launch trip on the Kazinga channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward, is one of the most important and popular activities in the park. Launch trips leave daily, four times a day, at 9am, 11am, 3pm and 5pm, and they last approximately two hours. The launch trip gives the visitors the opportunity to see yawning hippos in water with crocodiles. This is also a great trip to see elephants, buffaloes, water buck, Uganda kob, giant forest hog, leopards and lions.

The 3pm launch trip is more likely to give better opportunities for elephant sighting especially on a hot day when they come for drinking water. The 9am and 5pm departures are more rewarding photographically though the chances of seeing predators and other nocturnal creatures coming to drink are higher in the late afternoon. Generally, the departure times of 9am and 3pm are the most commonly taken given the fact that many visitors prefer to go during these schedules. The launch trip also gives the opportunity for seeing water bucks such as pink-backed pelicans, yellow-billed stock, various clovers, black-headed gonolek, papyrus gonolek, white-bellied cormorants and many others.
