Game Viewing
Uganda is well endowed with an array of wildlife found in the 10 National Parks and the various game reserves. Visits to these parks and reserves will bring you close to life in the wild and you will truly be part of it during the game drives. A game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, for example, will bring you in close contact with Elephants, bush bucks, water bucks, giant forest hogs, topis as well as the leopard. The Ishasha sector of the park is home to the tree climbing lions and the grasslands there support a large population of Uganda Kobs. Apart from game drives, game may also be viewed during the launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. Sight yawning hippos as you go on the cruise.
In Murchison falls National Park, most of the game drives take place on the northern side of the Nile as there are few animals on the southern bank due to dense vegetation. However, the trap between the top of the falls and Rabongo offers wildlife such as Jackson hartebeests, water buck, baboon, oribi and in some few cases elephants and lions. The Nile valley is one of the hottest places in Uganda and animals tend to look for shade and shelter at around eleven. Therefore early morning is the best time to see and photograph animals.
Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking
Uganda hosts 700 gorillas which is more than half the population of mountain gorillas in the World. Gorilla tracking activities take place in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla parks. Looking into the gentle eye of the gorillas is such a captivating activity you shouldn’t miss. Chimpanzee trekking is a major tourist activity in Kibale National Park, Kyambura gorge of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Budongo forest and Kaniyo Pabidi Eco-tourism site, in Murchison Falls Park
Chimpanzee habituation experience
Uganda Wildlife Authority has set up habituation centres in Kibale National Park. Visitors are allowed to spend more time with the chimps trying to imitate their behavior especially how they feed. This is a fascinating activity that one should not miss out on.
Bird watching
Uganda is regarded as a birder’s paradise as it hosts an incredible array of over 1000 bird species all over the country. If you are truly interested in sighting rare species of birds such as the shoebill stock, then Uganda will definitely reward a sight of these amazing birds. A visit to either of the different National Parks in Uganda will definitely impress a birder.
Mountaineering
Hiking is an incredible activity that brings satisfaction to a hiker once he reaches the peak of the mountain. This is not an activity for only the physically strong. Uganda has a mountain for the strong at heart as well. Mt. Rwenzori, which rises to height of 5100 metres above sea level, is amazing to hike for the strong physically. Mt. Elgon, 4,321 metres above sea level, has a friendlier gradient that is still as fascinating to hike.
White water rafting
Rafting at the source of River Nile offers you one of the most exciting and wettest day of your life. A full day trip will raft you for 31km.The rafts explode through huge walls of white water and drift through the warm green pools in the equatorial sunshine. Wild or mild, it's something for everyone.
Primate walks
Walk through Budongo forest, Kyambura gorge and Kibale forest in search of the amazing primates’ resident. Sight the black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons as well as the rare golden monkeys.
Butterfly watching
The beautiful butterflies color Kibale forest, Bwindi forest as well as Mabira forest. Sight the breathtaking patterns and unique colors of these free spirited butterflies.
Scenery viewing
The attractions in Uganda are unique. With the cool climate, the amazing green vegetation gives one a glimpse of the pearl of Africa. The abundant forests to the rolling hills of Kabale, the Switzerland of Uganda, as well as the rivers, lakes and waterfalls are simply fascinating and it leaves one with fond memories and a clear understanding of Sir Winston Churchill’s feeling that Uganda is indeed, the pearl of Africa.

Water falls viewing
A trip to Mount Elgon, will reward you with a complementally visit to the most romantic falls in Uganda,” The Sipi Falls” .Close to Jinja town there is an amazing site of the Bujagali falls and as the River Nile flows further, there is formation of another incredible sight of Murchison Falls. The sight of these waterfalls is truly refreshing.
Hot springs viewing
Watch as hot water flows through the earth’s surface at the Sempaya hotsprings in Semliki National Park and Kanangorok hotsprings in Kidepo National Parks.
Community walks
Be exposed to the different cultures of the different communities in Uganda as you take walks in the community. These communities are quite hospitable and share openly their beliefs, traditions and way of life with their visitors.
Sport fishing
For those interested in sport fishing, a fishing trip on the second biggest fresh water lake in the world, Lake Victoria and at the bottom of Murchison falls in Murchison Falls National park is the perfect for you as you will be able to catch fish. So far the heaviest catch caught is slightly over100kg.
Caving
The Garama cave is 342metres in length and 14metres deep and is now inhabited. This is one of the caves where the Batwa, who were warriors, once lived and fought their neighbors the Bantus. The guide can show you how the Batwa lived and fought out of the cave.
Forest walks
The peaceful atmosphere in the forests is too tempting that one should not miss a walk in either of the many forests in Uganda including Mabira forest, Rabongo forest, Budongo forest, Kibale forest and Bwindi impenetrable forest. A walk in these forests will expose you to different creatures in the wild.
